Financial Chat (Zen)
How to use Zen — the AI-powered chat interface for portfolio Q&A, market research, and document queries.
Financial Chat — Zen Guide
Ask your portfolio anything. Get answers grounded in your documents, live market data, and regulatory sources.
What Is Zen?
Zen is Sentinel’s conversational AI. Unlike generic chatbots, Zen:
- Reads your documents — CAS, AIF statements, PMS reports uploaded to the session
- Searches the web — Live market data, news, SEBI circulars
- Cites sources — Every answer shows where the information came from
- Protects you — Guardrails prevent unauthorized advice and PII leakage
Starting a Chat Session
- Click Zen Chat in the sidebar.
- A new session auto-titles itself based on your first message (e.g., “Portfolio Review — Sharma”).
- You can have multiple active sessions — one per client, one for research, one for internal ops.
Conversation Types
Type 1: Document Q&A
Upload a document and ask questions about it.
You: Upload CAS_2026_Q1.pdf You: “What is my largest equity holding?” Zen: “Your largest equity holding is HDFC Top 100 Fund with ₹42.3L (18.2% of total portfolio). Source: CAS_2026_Q1.pdf, Page 3, Holdings Table.”
Type 2: Portfolio Analysis
Ask comparative and analytical questions.
You: “How has my debt allocation changed since last quarter?” Zen: “Your debt allocation decreased from 34% to 28% quarter-over-quarter. The primary shift was a ₹12L redemption from SBI Magnum Gilt and a ₹8L addition to ICICI Pru Equity & Debt.”
Type 3: Market Research
Ask about market trends and macro themes.
You: “What is the current outlook for mid-cap funds?” Zen: “Mid-cap funds have seen net outflows of ₹4,200Cr in April 2026 amid valuation concerns. However, earnings growth remains strong at 22% YoY. [Source: AMFI, Economic Times, 2026-05-10]”
Type 4: Image Analysis
Upload a screenshot or photo.
You: Upload photo of handwritten portfolio notes Zen: “I can see 5 schemes listed. Would you like me to compare their 1-year returns?”
Understanding Citations
Zen uses a three-tier citation system:
| Tier | Source | Trust Level |
|---|---|---|
| T1 | SEBI, RBI, AMFI, exchange filings | Highest |
| T2 | Financial media (ET, Mint, Bloomberg) | High |
| T3 | General web, Wikipedia | Contextual |

Guardrails & Disclaimers
Zen will not:
- Recommend specific buy/sell actions
- Predict future prices
- Share client data across sessions
- Generate advice without the SEBI disclaimer
Every investment-related response ends with:
“This information is for educational purposes only. Please consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser before making investment decisions.”
Tips for Better Answers
- Be specific — “Compare my large-cap vs mid-cap returns” beats “How am I doing?”
- Upload context — Attach the latest CAS before asking portfolio questions
- Use follow-ups — Zen remembers the session context. “What about debt?” follows naturally
- Check citations — Always verify T3 sources before client communication
- Export threads — Use Export PDF to save client-ready Q&A summaries
